What Must I Do To Get SAVED?
Salvation Through Jesus Christ
Truly speaking, getting “saved” is really quite simple, and just by asking the question, you’re already half-way there! Giving your life to JESUS CHRIST is a very personal act, and only you can make the decision to do so. Depending on where you are in your understanding of who JESUS is, and how strong your desire to “be saved is,” is what will determine how easily or fast your salvation happens.
If you already know about HIM, but have never invited HIM into your heart, then getting “saved” and giving your life over to HIS will is only a prayer away. And even if you don’t know anything about HIM, learning who HE is first, and then inviting HIM into your heart is still only a prayer away! So no matter where you are in your understanding, the answer to your question “What Must I Do To Get Saved?” is very simple.
Who is Jesus Christ?
The first thing you should understand is that JESUS CHRIST is the Son of GOD / the Son of Man, and HE came to fulfill a prophecy; to offer salvation to the lost; to destroy the works of the enemy; to bear witness to the truth; to do the will of GOD so that man could live a more abundant life; and most importantly, HE came to give HIS life as ransom for ours so that we might have eternal life. Simply stated: HE CAME TO SET US FREE FROM OUR SINS AND TO GIVE US ETERNAL LIFE!
Read your Bible to learn more about who Jesus Christ is first for yourself, or visit your neighborhood church and start asking questions. Don’t just take our word for it, validate the truth for yourself. However, if you do not wish to explore first who Christ is, that’s fine too. You can still get saved, and pray for the power of understanding afterward.
Why was He crucified?
There were (and still are) many that did not believe that JESUS was who HE claimed to be (The Son of GOD), thus, accused HIM of blasphemy and made the decision to crucify HIM. So they beat HIM, stoned HIM, pressed a crown of thorns on HIS head, and nailed HIM to the cross until he died. It was a brutal murder, a brutal death, but a victorious celebration. Because little did they know, HIS temporary death was one minor step in GOD’s master-plan … because 3 glorious days later, JESUS was resurrected from the grave and HIS mission here on earth was complete; and eternal life for us had just begun! PRAISE GOD FOR THE VICTORY!
JESUS died on the cross so that we — GOD’s children — could live. So that we might have eternal Salvation through HIS blood. And what that means for us is that we now have a representative that sits at the foot of the FATHER and intercedes for us, and opens a direct line of communication to GOD for us. So we can be confident knowing that our sins have been forgiven and that we have been redeemed by our Savior JESUS CHRIST … and no one can take that away from us! Our Salvation is a gift from GOD, and to receive it, we need do nothing but only ask.
So what must I do to be saved?
1) Admit that you are a sinner.
2) Believe in your heart that JESUS is who the Bible says HE is, and that HE died on the cross for us so that we may have eternal life.
3) Pray any one of the following prayers, and mean it with all of your heart:
Dear LORD,
I know I am a sinner, and I believe that Jesus Christ is your son and that he died on the cross and rose again so that I may have eternal life. I am asking you to come into my heart and SAVE me so that I can begin to live for you. I want to do your will and share your word with others. I want to be a living testimony of your power and grace. I receive you now Jesus into my heart, and I submit my life to you and will begin living for you today. In the mighty and precious name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
Lord Jesus,
I am a sinner. And I believe you are the Son of GOD and that you died for me. Please come into my heart, be my Lord and Savior, and forgive me of all my sins and take control of every area of my life from this moment on. Fill me with your Holy Spirit and use me for your glory. I want to serve you and love you all the days of my life. Thank you, Father, that I am now your child. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.
Dear Jesus,
Please forgive me for being a sinner. I want to turn my life over to you and live a Holy life. Please come into my heart and SAVE me and help me to live a better life. A life that glorifies you from this point forward. Lord, I want to change from doing things my way to doing them your way. I want to become the person that you would have me to become. I believe that you are the true Son of GOD and that you died on Calvary for me so that I can be forgiven and have a more fulfilling life. I want to be a living example of your grace. Today Lord, I give myself wholly to you. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
4) If you prayed one of these prayers, and meant it with all of your heart, you are now SAVED by the “blood of the lamb”. This … is where your “spiritual rebirth” begins, and where you begin to “rise from the ashes.” Now continue to live your life as you normally would, but only this time, whatever you do or wherever you go, you’re taking Jesus Christ with you in your heart.
From here, begin to study God’s word daily, and as you do, you will grow stronger in your faith, wiser in your decisions, and more knowledgeable of your purpose. You will be guided in your decision-making process by the power of the Holy Spirit that now lives inside you. Remember to read your Bible daily (Daily Devotions) so that you are well versed in GOD’s word. For HIS word is your power, your weapon, your sword (aka the Bible), and your shield against the enemy when he comes to seek and destroy — and he will — because he always does. His entire agenda is to attack your life in any way possible. Nothing or no one is off limits. But if you are prepared, you will overcome him every time. So read GOD’s word, hide it in your heart, and you’ll always be able to tear down the strongholds of the enemy that affect your spiritual life.
Bible Verses About Getting SAVED!
Ephesians 6:10-18 (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Romans 8:1-39 (KJV)
8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
